Group Legal Advisor

Responsibilities:
  • Employee Relations: Provide expert advice and support on HR issues to employees and management, ensuring alignment with HR practices and organizational culture.
  • Industrial Relations: Ensure compliance of the company's disciplinary code and policies with statutory Acts. Advise management on disciplinary procedures and handle interactions with Bargaining Councils and unions.
  • Recruitment and Retention: Take overall responsibility for recruitment activities, ensuring the company attracts and retains top talent.
  • HR Administrative System: Maintain an efficient HR administrative system, including managing employment contracts, relevant reporting, and overseeing all HR processes.
  • Training and Development: Identify training needs, implement suitable programs, evaluate outcomes, and manage Skills Development initiatives including ATR, WSP, and FP&M Seta liaison. Coordinate Learnership and Skills programs and administer Seta funding and documentation.
  • Company Policies and Procedures: Ensure all company policies and procedures are current and comply with legislation.
  • Employment Equity: Update and maintain the Employment Equity Plan and Reports, conduct EE committee meetings, and handle submissions to the Department of Labour.
  • Legal Advisory: Provide legal advice and assistance across all companies within the group, addressing a range of legal matters.
Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in Law, Human Resources Management, or related field. Legal qualification (LLB) preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of HR practices, employment law, and industrial relations.
  • Strong understanding of legislative requirements and compliance.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with employees at all levels.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results under tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel nationally as required.
  • Reliable own transport.
