PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE JOB:


This role will be responsible for the facilitation and coordination of the Mintek SET Human Programmes in order to ensure that the organisation has a pool of appropriately qualified employees.

The programmes include but not limited to Postgraduate SET Qualifications Enhancement, Post-doctoral, Bursary, Internship, In-Service, and Young Researcher Programmes. The role will also build and manage stakeholder relationships for these programmes (DMRE, DSI, MQA, NRF, HSRC, HEIs, etc.)

The role will be responsible for developing strategies and plans for the Schools Outreach programme.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:

Leadership

  • Live the Mintek values and support collaboration within Mintek.
  • Facilitate engagements/consultations to ensure buyin of the SET Human Capital initiatives across Mintek

Strategy

  • Facilitate and coordinate the development of all SET Human Capital Programmes including career development activities to support the organizations talent management;
  • Contribute to the planning and development of the Section strategy;
  • Develop strategies and plans for the Schools Outreach programme;
  • Support Mintek's transformation agenda and sustainability

Financial sustainability

  • Prepare annual budgets for SET Human Capital Programmes taking into account the requirements and commitments from the divisions;
  • Manage and monitor the expenditure of the SET Human Capital Programmes;
  • Coordinate the submission of Mintek SET Human Capital proposals to external funders.

Execution, People and Planning

  • Conduct research into pipeline management/capacity building to establish relevant trends; collates information
  • Consult with Executive Managers to assess and document the business needs;
  • Hold meetings with institutions of higher learning in various faculties to determine needs and design comprehensive bursary programme;
  • Develop and implement onboarding and orientation programmes under this portfolio;
  • Liaise with the business regarding planning of the inservice/vacation work programme;
  • Develop interventions to support Young Researchers in line with the requirement of the SET career ladder.

Performance management

  • Develop, implement and manage best practice systems for efficient and coherent implementation of the SET Human Capital Programmes;
  • Monitor the implementation of portfolio programmes and guide the refinement of processes for continuous improvement.

Governance and Risk Management

  • Ensure that the internal review panel for SET Human Capital Programmes is operational and effective;
  • Administer SET Human Capital Programme funding agreements as per requirements;
  • Contribute towards the development of relevant policies and procedures;
  • Monitor and report on SET Human Capital Programme risk exposures.

Relationship Management and Reporting

  • Manage the relationship between Mintek and SET Human Capital Programme stakeholders (DMRE, DSI, MQA, NRF, HSRC, HEIs, etc.)
  • Develop and implement information management and reporting system for this portfolio;
  • Ensure the right data is available for accurate and useful reporting;
  • Timely provide monthly and quarterly reports for SET Human Capital Programmes.

JOB KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

years' work experience, of which 3 years' experience in a research or education institution in the development of SET development programmes;

  • Management of contracts, agreements, budgets.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum: Masters in a relevant field of Science or Engineering, Management or Human Resources.
  • Ideal: Post graduate qualification in Management or Human Resources.
