The Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that educates the students across multiple disciplines, including Accounting, Economics, Finance, Management and Entrepreneurship, Industrial Psychology (Human Resources Management), Information Systems, Institute for Poverty, Land and Agrarian Studies (PLAAS), Institute for Social Development, Political Studies, School of Government and the Academic Literacies Programme.


The School of Government in the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences at the University of the Western Cape has a growing reputation as a leading teaching and research centre in the areas of Public Administration, Governance and Public Policy.

The school offers a wide range of formal academic programmes including undergraduate and a large postgraduate unit, as well as a range of professional programmes and research projects, some of which are tailored to meet client's needs.


  • Facilitate learning and teaching at undergraduate level in Public Administration or related field
  • Academic administration
  • Conduct research in Public Administration
  • Undertake Honours level supervision
  • Participate in community engagement and outreach

Minimum Requirements

  • Master's degree in the field of Public Administration
  • Tutoring and/or facilitation experience

Added Advantages:

  • Registered for a PHD in Public Administration
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating learning and teaching in Public Administration

N.B. The position of Associate Lecturer is seen as a developmental one. The successful incumbent will be placed on a development plan to ensure upward growth within the academic ranks of the university.
