QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • National diploma in mechanical engineering or a technical trade qualification (such as a trade test pass in diesel fitting )
  • Electrical qualification or experience is an added advantage.
  • At least 4 years of engineering experience (post qualification).
  • Experience in field service would be advantageous but not essential
  • Valid drivers licence and passport


RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Providing technical support and resolving queries with sales staff, branches, customers, OEMs and service partners (including site visits).
  • Conducting site tests on engine installations to ensure compliance with diesel technical specifications.
  • Conducting engine failure analysis on site (including underground) and in-service partner workshops.
  • Compiling engine failure analysis reports
  • Distribution of technical documentation
  • Conducting technical product training
  • Conducting service partner audits
Knowledge and Skills
  • Well-developed knowledge of diesel engines
  • Ability to acquire company product knowledge
  • Basic computer (PC) knowledge
  • General knowledge and understanding of safety legislation
  • Experience leading to an in-depth understanding of diesel powers EDP systems
  • Good Computer skills
  • Well-developed planning, organizing and job-coordinating skills
  • Strong communication skills English language (verbal and written)
  • Well-developed report writing and presentation skills
  • Well-developed diagnostic, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and judgment
