Main purpose of the job:


To develop, implement and maintain safety and security SOP's and measures for all Wits RHI Operational sites nationally thereby enabling a safe a safe and secure working environment for all employees, participants, and visitors and to mitigate any deviations.

To ensure compliance with OHASACT and other Environmental Acts and regulations.

Location:

  • 7 Esselen Str, Hillbrow, Johannesburg.

Key performance areas:

  • Ensures that Wits RHI sites are adequately secure from a staff and patient perspective.
  • Collaborate with Directors and senior manager to determine security needs.
  • Oversees the allocation of outsourced security resources and ensures these are adequate in consideration of the securityrelated risks to the sites.
  • Oversees the management of security suppliers in conjunction with the Divisional COO.
  • Effectively manage and resolve all security related incidents at all Wits RHI Sites in collaboration with the management team onsite, SAPS and other related stakeholders.
  • Act as a liaison with local law enforcement agencies.
  • Implement security policies that prevent theft, breakins, loss and fraud in conjunction with the Divisional COO and WHC Stakeholders.
  • Create an annual plan and facilitate security education and awareness activities.
  • Ensure security systems are updated and maintained effectively.
  • Collects and disseminates information related to local security risks.
  • Monitor the current security risks and effectively address when required.
  • Control the security budget and monitoring expenses.
  • Develop an integrated Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) strategy for Wits RHI.
  • Provide technical expertise, leadership, and support for all OHS initiatives.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the OHS Committee and Sub Committees (including infection control) to ensure effective and efficient OHS operations.
  • Ensure the development, planning, and implementation of OHS policies and procedures in compliance with local Occupational Health and Safety Act and other legislative bodies' rules and regulations.
  • Ensure the timeously reporting of all IOD incidents to the HR department and operations team.
  • Oversee the management of all site incidents and investigations and reporting thereof.
  • Provide technical expertise, leadership, and support for all OHS initiatives at all of Wits RHI sites nationally.
  • Compile and manage the Safety Security and OHS Budget in line with Organisational needs.
  • Ensure Organisational compliance of all expenses within the budgets.
  • Create, maintain, and disseminate adequate reporting and dashboards to allow for trend analysis, mitigation and line of sight of activities within the Divisional COO Office.
  • Perform security risk assessments and Audits to identify risks and develop effective preventative measures.
  • Develop and maintain an effective incident management system for all Health and Safety and site security components of Wits RHI.
  • Compile monthly safety and security reports and disseminate to relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure Organisational compliance with "Safety and security" and "Health and Safety" legislation and policies.
  • Conduct training on operational SOPs to ensure compliance.
  • Attend to all staffing requirements and administration.
  • Supervise and manage the duties of subordinates to ensure optimal staff utilisation and maintenance of sound labour relations.
  • Perform and facilitate performance development and assessments.
  • Identify substandard performance by team members and take necessary corrective action.
  • Coach and train subordinates and team members to ensure the acquisition of knowledge and skills required by the organisation.
  • Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained.
  • Take ownership for driving own career development by participating in ongoing training and development activities such as workshops, forums, conferences etc.
  • Participate and give input in ad hoc projects and initiatives.

Required minimum education and training:

_Degree or Diploma in Security and / or Occupational Health and Safety_

Required minimum work experience:

-
_5 years' experience in Organisational Security and / or Occupational Health and Safety, with 2 years being in a managerial role._

Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of OHAS regulations and organizational security practices.
  • Ability to deal with stress and unexpected situations.
  • Excellent organizational, problemsolving and project management skills are critical.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organizational skills and efficient and effective work habits are also important.
  • Assertive and attention to detail.
