Role purpose:


The role is to be the solution lead for complex end to end technical and service solution for deals with multinational customers - typically requiring multiple design work streams and complex service propositions or even full outsource models.

The role will be responsible for working with sales and directly with customers in order to develop, design, cost, and document the solution to be offered to customers.


Two primary areas of focus:


Demand creation at either a customer (major or breakthrough accounts), sector or business driver level, typically focussed around Innovation and Thought Leadership, in partnership with sales, product & marketing.

Solution Authority, focussed on the major bids (Tier 0 or 1) in VGE where they will own the creation of complex solutions to meet customer requirements, heading a virtual design team spanning multiple product and service portfolios


Work closely with other members of the Vodafone team, including: the technical community, Projects & Programmes, Service, Product and Commercial managers, to ensure that the solution deployed is fit for purpose and can be readily deployed and operated by Vodafone.


This role is based regionally covering Africa and global opportunities driven from the African region based in Johannesburg and will deal predominantly with opportunities where the customer decision makers are based in the region.

The nature of Vodafone Global Enterprise customers means some travel is to be expected in this customer-facing role. The customers this role will be dealing with are large multinationals and many designs will be multi-country in nature.

Your responsibilities will include:

Capture and interpret customer requirements, and design complex and custom solutions to meet customer requirements.

Able to help "sell" the solution by providing clear links between business challenges and solutions as an enabler to solve these.

Build accurate scalable cost models and provide input into pricing strategy
Identify and document any risks to the solution, and advise on mitigation approaches in delivery and financial models.
Lead the development of the document solution in RFP responses, proposals and Statement of Works/High Level Designs.
Ensure solutions are deliverable in timeframes committed and have passed all appropriate VGE solution governance. Solutions should be scalable, repeatable, and utilizing existing standard services as much as possible.

Technical / professional qualifications:

Relevant higher education in a related field
Must have core expertise in designing complex solutions in one or more of the following areas:
IP Networking (WAN & LAN)
Security solutions
Mobility and Mobile Data Services

Minimum 8 years experience in dealing with large corporate customers in a Presales design or consultancy role, They will often have a specialist technical or sector knowledge but will be expected to operate across the different channels.

International experience desirable (working internationally and/or working with global solutions)

Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:

Ability to present to internal / external stakeholders and up to C-level customers in a sales engagement

Requires a good technical understanding of our capability and wide ranging commercial and financial skills, networking and presentation, influencing/ negotiation skills.

Interpersonal skills and teamwork with multinational teams.

Leading virtual solution team throughout bid, with proven skills in building and motivating team through extended and challenging bid cycles.

Analytical and critical thinking, but able to approach problems creatively and offer innovative solutions.
Detail orientation, operates with precision
Ability to drive results in challenging and fast paced environment.
