Business Unit Director: Boutique Creative Agency

We have a fabulous hybrid opportunity for a dynamic Business Unit Director to join the Client Service team at a boutique creative agency's Cape Town office.

The Business Unit Director has oversight of all client relationships ensuring quality strategies play out and client objectives are met.

As a BUD you are actively involved during the initial concept phase.


In this role you will work closely with the client service team guiding and mentoring them around process, platform & rituals to ensure they are effectively managing and growing client relationships.

You will be part of the senior management team who collectively work together and support each other towards reaching the company goals.

You will have one Account Manager and two Account Directors reporting to you.

Responsibilities:

  • Mentoring, guiding, managing, and reviewing the client service team
  • Source and close new business strategically and efficiently
  • Maintain and grow existing client business
  • Develop client strategies
  • Communicating effectively to achieve excellent outcomes
  • Set up and facilitate client service team huddles
  • Set up and facilitate client pitch process
  • Set up and facilitation of key client meetings
  • Ensuring retrospectives are held for future improvements.

Requirements:

  • Industry relevant qualification
  • TTL and digital, experiential/shopper marketing and events/activations experience is essential
  • Small agency/flat structure experience preferable
  • Ability to work at a leadership level
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Internal and external problem solver
  • Client centricity: You are all about partnering with our clients as their trusted advisor sharing and collaborating on suitable and stand out solutions
  • Client satisfaction: You're curious about ways to improve on client relationships driving retention ideas and customer satisfaction surveys
  • Goaldriven: You are invested in coming up with smart strategies and implementing them to reach client revenue goals and targets
  • Business acumen: You take the time to understand a client's business, their goals and their marketing initiatives and are comfortable talking business with clients
  • Brand ambassador: You understand the business, their brand DNA, services and solutions. You know how to spot an opportunity for business and are comfortable talking about the agency as a solutions partner
  • Proposal and contracts guru: You exude a "we got you" approach to producing client strategies, proposals, pitch decks and creating or negotiating client contracts
  • People's person: You build and maintain strong and productive working relationships
  • You empower, support and delegate to grow your team
  • Agile, fast worker
  • Good understanding of financials/budgets
  • Able to mentor junior staff
  • A pitch closer.
