Role Purpose:
  • The role of the Commercial Partnerships Lead in ShopriteX is to identify profitable business opportunities through strong client relationships and negotiations.
  • Reports to the Head of Partnerships and New Business Development.
  • Works closely with senior management to evaluate and execute partnership opportunities.
  • Focuses on expanding ShopriteX capabilities through partnerships to drive value and revenue.
Role Description:
  • Strategic Partnerships and Business Development:
    • Identify, evaluate, and manage key strategic partnerships for growth.
    • Co-create initiatives across strategic programs.
    • Evaluate new business opportunities, negotiate terms, and onboard partners.
    • Work with internal and external stakeholders to unlock high-value opportunities.
    • Drive negotiations and contracting for optimal partnership structures.
    • Focus on laying the foundation for long-term strategic programs.
  • Start-up Sourcing, Evaluation, and Innovation:
    • Source, identify, and assess start-ups aligned with the investment thesis.
    • Engage in discussions to determine start-up alignment with strategic pillars.
    • Evaluate competitor and market activities for emerging opportunities.
  • Portfolio Management and Stewardship:
    • Represent portfolio ventures to maintain strategic alignment.
    • Offer support to portfolio entities to unlock mutual value.
    • Engage with strategic partners to ensure transparency and trust.
  • Leadership and Team Management:
    • Inspire a high-performing team.
    • Lead a team to deliver Proof of Concepts and develop revenue targets.
    • Provide expertise to support complex problems and guide on business values.
  • Industry Trends and Networking:
    • Stay current on industry trends and pivotal shifts.
    • Keep informed of trends within the African and global landscapes.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management or Administration (essential).
  • 4+ years' experience in senior management and negotiating complex partnerships (essential).
  • Expertise in creating differentiated relationships with partners (essential).
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams (essential).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint (essential).
  • Ability to travel as per operational requirements (essential).
