ROLE PURPOSE:

We are excited to announce a new opportunity for a Senior Associate - eDiscovery at Cognia Law.
As a leader in the legal services industry, we are always looking for talented individuals to join our team. In this role, you will be part of a team responsible for managing and coordinating our firm's eDiscovery efforts.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and coordinate eDiscovery related processes and projects from beginning to end, ensuring efficient and accurate execution of all steps.
  • Work collaboratively with legal teams and clients to understand case requirements and develop eDiscovery strategies that meet their needs.
  • Oversee all technical aspects of eDiscovery, including the collection, processing, preservation and review of electronic data.
  • Managing the technical quality of delivery: working with the Legal Project Manager to put in place suitable mechanisms for tracking and measuring quality and earlywarningsystems to identify quality issues, ensuring the team are familiar with the quality requirements, and monitoring the quality of outputs throughout the lifespan of the project. Reporting any quality issues to the Legal Project Manager in a timeous manner and supporting the resolution of quality issues.
  • Conduct quality control of ingested and processed data to ensure accuracy and integrity.
  • Provide guidance and training to junior team members on eDiscovery processes and technologies.
  • Develop custom workflows for project management and ensure adherence to established workflows.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Supporting lessons learned, corrective action identification, and close out activities.
  • Where relevant, working with tech partners, the advisory and solution architecting team, and other departments within Cognia to design/tailor techenabled solutions based on client needs.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of the legal delivery function at Cognia.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A tertiary qualification in Law (LLB, BCom Law, LLM)
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in eDiscovery and litigation support.
  • A Certification in eDiscovery
  • Strong knowledge of eDiscovery software and technology, including Relativity, Ringtail, and Nuix (and ideally Reveal).
  • Experience managing teams and mentoring junior team members.
  • Familiarity with electronic data processing techniques, methods and best practices.
  • Proven track record of effective QC implementation.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in a fastpaced environment.
  • Understanding and being able to operate any legal tech or other tools that are utilised in the course of project delivery.
  • Escalating any issues in the operation of legal or other tech to the appropriate forums.
