THE COMPANY
THE ROLE
An IT Support Specialist's role in Traderoot Africa is crucial to its operations. The IT service desk assist throughout the entire product lifecycle and ensures that all users receive help promptly. ICT Desk Support position must ensure that all technical aspects are functioning optimally.
Technical hiccups can affect Traderoot Africa's performance; therefore, duties and responsibilities will revolve around maximizing computer system capabilities and making recommendations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The position entails the following responsibilities:
- Providing technical support to all staff at the Traderoot group.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and solve problems quickly to ensure our business operations run smoothly.
- Perform regular maintenance for our computers, printers, network systems and any other technical equipment.
- Ensure our computers are backed up so all files are saved in case the systems crashes.
- Run security checks on all of our systems to ensure we are protected from cybersecurity threats.
- Providing afterhours remote support if required.
- Collecting equipment from suppliers
REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma with a strong focus on IT.
- 1 year of IT help desk and/or technical and product support experience.
- Familiarity with computer operating systems such as Windows and Linux(optional).
- General troubleshooting skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong communications skills, organisational skills and time management skills
- Excellent customer skills and desire to help the company succeed
- Own reliable transport and valid driver's licence
ADDITIONAL SKILLS
The following areas of expertise would be advantageous in this role:
- Basic understanding of IT networks, firewalls and network routing
- Exposure to onpremise Active Directory and Exchange
- Experience with virtualized environments
- Operational security awareness
- Experience with platform and operating system architecture
- Knowledge of common protocols and standards such as TCP/IP, RDP, VPN, SSL/TLS and FTP
