Event and Incident Management

Requirements:

  • B Tech or first Degree in the Transport Engineering field. Good
computer literacy skills.

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in the Traffic & Transportation,
Transport Operations, Transport Incident Management, or Event

Transportation fields

  • Staff management experience
- a Code B driver's licence

  • Willingness to work at any location within the City of Cape Town,
outside of normal working hours, including weekends when required.

  • Must be independently mobile, including allterrain walking for
visual inspections & assessments.

  • Registration with ECSA would be advantageous
Key Performance Areas

  • Manage staff within the Event and Incident Management section.
  • Communication & Liaison: Represent the Council at meetings with
event organisers, members of the public and other government and

Council departments, and regular communication with same.

  • Road Incident Management: development, planning,
maintenance, operations & expansion

  • Freeway and Arterial Management Operations
  • Event Transport Planning, Management, Facilitation and Promotion
  • Lead or draft and oversee the implementation of Event Transport
Management Plans

  • Events inventory management
  • Financial Management
  • Assist with budget planning, control & reporting.
  • Manage capital projects
  • Management of contracts in accordance with the Contract

Management Framework (CMF) of the City:

  • Preparation of Tender documentation
  • Management, administration and review of contracts and projects
  • Contract Life Cycle Management
  • Administration
