Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in geomatics/ land surveying
  • Registered with the South African Geomatics Council as a

Geomatics Professional:
Land Surveying.

  • Five (5) to eight (8) years' postqualification experience of which
two (2) years should have been in the supervisory capacity of

Professional Staff.

  • Project management experience will be an advantage
  • Strong knowledge of Land Survey Act; Deeds Registries Act; and
other acts relevant to the survey and registration of land.

  • Knowledge of local government municipal functions and related
legislation and policies.

  • Advanced computer literacy in MS Office packages
  • A valid South African driver's licence
  • Advanced report writing skills.
Key Performance Areas

  • Analyse survey requests using accumulated knowledge and skills to
establish the most efficient methodology required to obtain approval

from the SGO.

  • Anticipate the allocation of sufficient resources to the service
request by evaluating the requirements and sourcing property data.

  • Compile technical reports for representation to the SGO and other
institutions to resolve disputes and act as arbitrators.

  • Act for Head: GIS when required
  • Manage detailed checking procedures for all formal plans
  • Represent immovable property processes and transfers of
ownership.

  • Investigate changing technology related to Survey, GPS and GIS
  • Diagnose and evaluate new hardware and software
  • Monitor and exercise financial control over the relevant accounts
within the Capital and Operating budgets.

  • Ensure the road worthiness and maintenance of dedicated survey
vehicles.

  • Provide staff reporting of matters at Departmental meetings
  • Liaise on a regular basis with service providers
  • Liaise with all internal stakeholder departments.
