About the Company:


TASK is a South African headquartered, multinational clinical research institute that conducts clinical trials to determine the treatment effects of novel medicinal products or devices in healthcare and offers services in conducting complex clinical trials in a wide variety of therapeutic areas.


Overall Purpose of the Position:


To manage and oversee TASK clinical investigators and ensure efficient conduct of clinical - trials and other medical operations under the applicable ethical, regulatory and scientific standards at the relevant TASK site.


Key Performance Areas (KPAs) & Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Leading, managing and actively supporting clinical investigators at clinical sites in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Training and mentoring of junior investigators to become independent principal investigators according to TASK career development pathway
  • Safeguarding Good Clinical Practice (GCP) in the conduct of clinical trials at site as per ICH E6 GCP and SA-GCP guides
  • Ensuring best practices, achieving targets within timelines and budget set
  • Developing and implementing recruitment strategies for the site and per trial, and monitor their effectiveness
  • Contributing to TASK scientific programs
  • Driving diversification into new therapeutic areas, assisting with feasibilities for new projects, site selection visits and questionnaires to drive advancement of site
  • Managing occupational health requirements for TASK staff as per TASK OH Policy
  • Maintaining and creating clinical Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's)
  • Supporting and assisting the Clinical Executive by providing input on strategic/operational matters and facilitating the implementation of initiatives and decisions

Ideal Requirements

  • Senior clinical researcher with experience as principal investigator
  • Broad medical experience, MBCHB, HPCSA registration, Good Clinical Practice certificate
  • At least 3 years' experience as a medical doctor / investigator in the field of clinical trials
  • Business management experience or qualification (advantageous)
  • Supervisory / management experience (advantageous)
