Assistant Silo Manager

Minimum Requirements:

  • Essential: Completion of all relevant Grading and Fumigation courses.
  • Possession of a Certificate in Management or Leadership.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in the Grain Industry with proven experience in:
  • Crop estimates.
  • Testing and grading of grains.
  • Fumigation techniques.
  • Knowledge of aeration processes.
  • In possession of a Valid Driver's License and own Vehicle.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the intake, storage, and dispatching of grain while ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Grade the grain in accordance with statutory requirements, making sure it meets the necessary standards.
  • Verify precise offloading procedures and evaluate the quality of the grain accurately.
  • Oversee the loading of grain and the process of taking samples.
  • Perform inspections to guarantee adherence to statutory guidelines.
  • Offer insights for storage capacity planning based on crop estimation data.
  • Execute precleaning, drying, aeration, and fumigation of grain as necessary.
  • Maintain a secure and safe working environment for all personnel.
  • Identify potential opportunities to add value to the grain based on grading criteria.
  • Streamline grain processes to achieve objectives that enhance value and minimize risk.
  • Deal with and resolve any queries or concerns raised by clients.
  • Provide clients with advice and information regarding available transactions and current industry trends.
