They are looking for a Safety, Health Risk Specialist to join their Benoni branch as soon as possible.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

A Safety, Health Risk Specialist is responsible for the successful initiation, implementation and finalisation of projects on site.

In the execution of their duties the Safety, Health Risk Specialist are expected to plan and conduct interventions in-line with the agreed proposal cost and time parameters.

During the course of interventions, Safety, Health Risk Specialist will conduct risk assessments, inspections and audits, chair and /or attend health and safety meetings, conduct awareness campaigns, maintain a file to prove compliance with the OHS Act and where necessary the NEMA.

The Safety, Health Risk Specialist will ensure clear lines of communication with the clients management, staff, health and safety team and management.

The Senior Safety Practitioner will immediately recommend, in writing to the client and Management, that client activities are stopped where there is a risk of injury or ill health to anyone.

The Practitioners will look to expand the Scope Of Work by identifying areas of mutually rewarding interventions with each customer.


MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Management Systems:

  • Working within a formalised quality management system, including procedures, document templates and reporting non conformances

Administration:

  • Initiating and maintaining project files
  • Chairing health and safety meetings
  • Report writing, including risk assessments, audits, etc.
  • Planning and scheduling interventions

Deployment:

  • Safety, Health Risk Specialist

Health requirements:

  • The incumbent is expected to be able to work in a variety of operational environments with exposure to:
  • Computer work
  • Fall risk
  • Enclosed spaces
  • Heat
  • Noise
  • Poor lighting
  • Chemicals
  • Electricity / power

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 1
  • Certificate at NQF 5 or equivalent (RPL) / National Certificate / Diploma in HSE
  • SETA approved Health and Safety Representative course
  • SETA approved Risk Assessment course

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • At least 6 years experience in a similar position
  • The incumbent must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as issued
  • The incumbent can and will be expected to travel and work away from home for periods of time
