Requirements:

  • A threeyear tertiary or equivalent qualification in Journalism, Copywriting, Editing, Communication or Public Relations.
  • Eight years relevant experience in Journalism, Marketing, Client Services, Public Relations and/or Communication, of which at least four years should be in a senior supervisory capacity.
  • Must have knowledge and professional experience of the theory, practice and technique of communication/journalism, crisis communication and writing original, compelling content.
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines and work on several projects simultaneously.
  • Creative thinker
  • Excellent ability to communicate in writing and speaking, narrating the compelling story of the brand and generate content to help shape the medias perception of company
  • Computer literate in MS Office.
  • Must possess a valid K53 driving license.
  • Exceptional skills in all aspects of verbal and written communication.
  • Core competencies (building relations, media liaison, managing resources, communicate with impact, customer focus and planning & organizing).
  • Leadership competencies (delivering results, continuous improvement, and leading innovation).
Enabling competencies (data analytics, digital readiness and solutioning complexity).

Functions:

We need a talented and experienced copywriter, public relations, and communication specialist to join our Marketing team using different types of platforms and managing a team to generate relevant content for various stakeholders:

  • Responsible for content management through the following actions:
  • Delivery of quality, original content for the various communication mediums used in the Marketing & Communications Departments.
  • Ensure that a central communication guide is in place, kept up to date and made available.
  • Ensure content is appealing to various target audiences and suitably written for the various communication mediums.
  • Edit and sign off on the content generated by copywriters and journalists; and
  • Initiate and ensure continuous communication of trends and industry information.
  • Manage the Copywriting team
  • Formulate communication and public relation strategies for company various stakeholders.
  • Oversee the preparation and signoff of suitable content for the execution of the communication and public relation strategies.
  • Draft media releases.
  • Guide and prepare scripts for videos.
  • Manage the execution of the content plan in consultation with involved parties.
  • Source, appoint and liaise with external journalists to brief them regarding content, and manage the quality of content.
  • Ensure constant operational efficiency through innovation within areas under control.
  • Ensure adherence to all legislative and regulatory prescripts.
  • Continuously evaluate plans, actions, and resources to ensure that objectives are achieved.
Manage the budget to utilize resources effectively and achieve objectives.
