Disa Primary School is a public school, located in Imizamo Yethu in Hout Bay. The school is supported by the Andreas and Susan Struengmann Foundation.

CORE ROLE

Plan and manage music lessons and foster an appreciation of different genres of music in an engaging manner for learners to learn musical skills, to have fun and to improve their self-esteem, resilience and well-being.


Requirements:

  • Matric
  • Have a musical background and be able to play at least one musical instrument
  • Experience in working with primary school learners
  • The capacity to build good relationships with learners
  • Flexibility
  • Friendly and positive disposition, with professional demeanour
  • The ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a cohesive and supportive team
  • Trustworthy and reliable, with the ability to handle confidential information discreetly
  • The ability to work in a variety of settings with culturallydiverse families and communities with the ability to be culturally sensitive and appropriate

Key performance Areas

  • Plan music lessons to create a learning and teaching environment which enables all learners to be productively engaged in individual and cooperative learning
  • Expose learners to different genres of music
  • Enable learners to play a variety on instruments
  • Develop learner's music vocabulary
  • Manage time and available resources to promote optimal teaching in Music lessons
  • Organise musical shows and events
  • Arrange musical performances
  • Assist with out of school musical events.
  • Ensure learners participate in Eisteddfods, shows and/or exhibitions
  • Ensure that learners are recognised for their achievements and participation
