Purpose of the Job:

To lead and oversee the procurement operations, ensuring the timely acquisition of goods and services while maintaining cost efficiency, quality standards, and compliance with regulatory and organizational policies.

Qualifications:

•Minimum:

oGrade 12 with a Diploma or Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, or Business Management.

•Preferred:

oDegree in Procurement, Supply Chain, or related field.

oCIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) certification will be advantageous.

Experience:

•3-5 years of relevant procurement experience, ideally in the FMCG or Manufacturing sectors.

•Proven track record in managing procurement operations and leading cross-functional teams.

•Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems is required.

Key Responsibilities:

1.Procurement Management:

oOversee the end-to-end procurement process, including purchasing, tender administration, and vendor management.

oEnsure compliance with internal purchasing policies and external regulatory requirements (e.g., BBBEE, OSH Act).

oMonitor and control procurement costs to align with departmental and organizational budgets.

2.Supplier and Vendor Management:

oBuild and manage strategic supplier relationships to meet business objectives.

oConduct vendor evaluations, oversee contract negotiations, and ensure alignment with the company’s BBBEE strategy.

oMaintain and update the Approved Vendor List, ensuring up-to-date supplier documentation and compliance with legislative requirements.

3.Financial and Risk Management:

oImplement controls to mitigate procurement risks and ensure financial accountability.

oOversee purchase requisitions and purchase order management, verifying accuracy, delivery timelines, and price negotiations.

oManage the reconciliation of invoices, purchase orders, and delivery notes, resolving discrepancies with Accounts Payable.

4.Inventory and Logistics:

oEnsure sufficient stock levels are maintained across all operational sites, minimizing disruptions to the supply chain.

oOversee logistics, including the management of storage facilities and the timely delivery of goods.

oLiaise with internal teams to ensure the efficient flow of inventory and manage import processes when required.

5.Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Compliance:

oEnforce compliance with HSE policies in all procurement-related activities.

oAddress workplace hazards and risks, ensuring the application of health and safety standards.

oParticipate in Food Safety and HSE meetings, ensuring procurement practices support organizational HSE goals.

6.Reporting and Data Accuracy:

oPrepare monthly procurement reports, analyzing data on costs, supplier performance, and inventory levels.

oMaintain accurate procurement records and update databases for audit purposes.

7.Team Leadership and Development:

oProvide leadership and mentorship to the procurement team.

oFoster a culture of continuous improvement and execution within the department.

oConduct internal procurement training and facilitate departmental collaboration.

Key Skills:

•Strong negotiation and contract management skills.

•Excellent written and verbal communication.

•Analytical and problem-solving abilities.

•Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ERP systems like SAP.

•Understanding of BBBEE compliance and supplier management.
