Our client is a leading organisation in the energy sector. As the organisation continues to evolve and expand its operational capacity, the Board is seeking to appoint an additional Independent Non-Executive Director with
strong business and operational leadership
experience to complement the existing mix of strategic, financial, engineering, and governance expertise. The Board is committed to guiding the company through this pivotal phase of institutional and technical development, supporting the leadership team to build a high-performing, commercially sustainable, and ethically governed enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

The incumbent will:

  • Contribute to the Board's collective oversight of strategy, governance, and performance in an operationally intensive, highly regulated environment.
  • Provide guidance on business management, engineering, operations, digital/IT governance, or related technical and business risks.
  • Strengthen the Board's capability to oversee operational performance, reliability, and sustainability.
  • Participate actively in Board and Committee deliberations, providing independent, objective judgement in support of the organisation's long-term strategic goals.

Required Background, Experience, and Personal Attributes

  • B Degree - preferably, but not limited to, Engineering or Finance/Commerce
  • A post graduate Business Management qualification, e.g. MBA, strongly preferred
  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in an executive leadership role, within a large, complex organisation with significant operational intensity
  • Extensive board experience, whether as Non-Executive Director, Executive Director, or business leader within a large entity (revenue exceeding R10bn)
  • Expertise in engineering, business management, digital/IT governance/cybersecurity, or energy related matters
  • Exposure to a power/energy, utilities, infrastructure or network business would be advantageous
  • The capacity to operate effectively in a complex stakeholder environment

Term of Appointment:

Three year term; renewal subject to performance and Board composition requirements
