ABOUT THE ROLE

Join Harambee Youth Employment Accelerator, a leading not-for-profit social enterprise dedicated to building African solutions for youth employment. As a Legal Officer, you will support contract drafting, review, and management, ensuring compliance and accuracy across all legal documentation. You'll conduct legal research, maintain contract registers, and align finance deliverables with legal requirements. The ideal candidate holds a recognized legal qualification, has 2–5 years' experience in Commercial Law, and demonstrates advanced MS Office skills. We value strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Contract Drafting Support: Prepare the first version of contracts/ first version of addendums (e.g. SLA's, MOU, MOA, NDA's).
  • Legal Research: Provide support in researching legal matters and regulations that impact the organization's activities, ensuring findings are relevant and up to date.
  • External Terms and Conditions: Review entry-level contracts and associated terms and conditions.
  • Contract Management: Maintain, edit, and update contract templates to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Contract Register Maintenance: Regularly maintain and update the contract registers to ensure all records are accurate and current.
  • Information Retrieval and Legal Documentation: Retrieve information, draft, and analyse legal documents.
  • Finance Deliverable Alignment: Ensure finance deliverables align with existing contracts, ensuring legal requirements are met before processing payment.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Legal qualification i.e. Diploma, Degree etc.
  • Have excellent understanding of legal procedures and terminology.
  • Be well-versed in drafting and vetting documentation and reporting.
  • Have at least 2-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Have 2-5 years' experience in Legal experience specializing in Commercial Law.
  • Have experience in office administration.
  • Experience in IT contracts will be advantageous.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office - including Word, Excel and Outlook.
