We're proud to embark on a 6–12 month financial management and assurance project in Mbombela, focused on enhancing compliance, strengthening internal controls, and building sustainable financial capacity within the public sector.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role located in the City of Mbombela. The Project Engagement Manager / Lead Consultant will manage and deliver client projects, conduct comprehensive consultations, and lead multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project completion.

Day-to-day tasks include overseeing project timelines, budgets, and deliverables, fostering strong client relationships, providing strategic insights, and ensuring effective project communication.

The role also encompasses financial management oversight, audit readiness leadership, and strategic mentorship — ensuring full compliance with applicable frameworks and delivering measurable value to the client.

6–12 months

Estimated Monthly Salary:
R85 000 – R110 000

Qualification & Experience :

  • Postgraduate degree in Accounting and CA(SA) qualification
  • 5 to 10 years of local government finance experience.
  • Membership with the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overall leadership of the project team and liaison with the CFO.
  • Oversee GRAP-compliant Annual Financial Statements compilation and disclosures on CaseWare.
  • Provide audit readiness guidance and coordinate the implementation of audit action plans.
  • Ensure compliance with MFMA, PFMA, and Treasury frameworks.
  • Oversee financial analysis, policy review, and development of financial sustainability plans.
  • Prepare and present progress and close-out reports to management.
  • Provide high-level capacity-building and mentoring to Nkomazi SEZ officials.
  • Lead investigations into financial irregularities and misconduct where required.
  • Ensure compliance with GRAP, PFMA, and MFMA.
  • Strengthen financial controls and improve audit outcomes.
  • Support skills transfer and mentoring to municipal finance staff.
  • Deliver all outputs within set timelines and report monthly to the CFO.

  • Microsoft 365 proficiency (Word, PowerPoint, Teams).
