We are seeking an experienced
Control and Instrumentation (C&I) Engineer
for a short-term contract based in Midrand. The ideal candidate will be a
professionally registered Pr.Eng with ECSA
, bringing extensive experience in
instrumentation, automation, and control systems
within
power generation, industrial, or energy environments
.

This role involves
design, implementation, commissioning, and optimization
of control and instrumentation systems for complex engineering projects. The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable system performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute C&I engineering design and integration for power and industrial systems.
  • Develop, review, and approve
    control philosophies, loop diagrams, wiring schematics
    , and
    instrumentation layouts
    .
  • Specify, select, and commission instrumentation and automation systems (PLC, DCS, SCADA).
  • Ensure compliance with
    ECSA
    ,
    SANS
    , and international engineering standards.
  • Provide technical support during
    installation, testing, and commissioning
    phases.
  • Conduct system troubleshooting, calibration, and performance optimization.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including
    datasheets, reports, and specifications
    .
  • Collaborate with project managers and other engineering disciplines to achieve project objectives.
  • Support project risk assessments, HAZOP studies, and safety compliance reviews.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in
    Electrical, Electronic, or Control Engineering
    (BEng/BSc/BTech).
  • Pr.Eng registration with ECSA
    –
    compulsory
    .
  • Minimum
    10 years' experience
    in
    Control & Instrumentation Engineering
    .
  • Proven experience within
    power generation
    ,
    energy
    , or
    process plant
    environments.
  • Proficiency in
    PLC, DCS, and SCADA systems
    (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, ABB, or equivalent).
  • Working knowledge of
    industrial communication protocols
    and
    instrument calibration
    .
  • Strong understanding of
    E&I drawings, P&IDs, and functional design specifications
    .
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and deliver under tight project timelines.
