Scope of Work

1.1 Overall Objective

The Business Process Optimisation (BPO) team, under the Enterprise Programme Management Office (EPMO), is currently driving strategic optimisation initiatives across the organisation to improve process efficiency, standardisation, and automation readiness. To support this mandate, a skilled Process Engineer is required on a short-term contract to assist with high-priority process reengineering activities and optimisation projects across the enterprise.

The successful candidate will work with various business units to map, analyse, and document processes, define process KPIs and governance controls, and assess automation feasibility. This is aligned to the organisation's ongoing drive to embed operational excellence and enable process digitisation.

To fulfil this requirement, EPMO is requesting a Process Engineer contract to support the completion of detailed process design, analysis, and documentation deliverables across selected functional areas. This task requires a qualified resource trained in Lean Six Sigma (minimum Green Belt advantageous) and experienced in applying structured process improvement methodologies.

1.2 Resource Type and Experience

  • Minimum 3-year degree/diploma in Industrial Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years' solid process re-engineering experience
  • Six Sigma (minimum Green Belt) trained and/or certified
  • Proficient in using process modelling tools such as Microsoft Visio, ARIS, or equivalent
  • Strong skills in business process analysis, process modelling, and developing standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Project management skills (advantageous)
  • Telecommunications experience and knowledge of mobile financial services (preferred)
  • Digital services/product experience
  • Knowledge of the DMAIC approach for delivering process optimisation projects
  • Identifying opportunities for process improvements
  • Identifying process variances and waste in current processes
  • Business process analysis and business process mapping for different business functions
  • Facilitating the negotiation of requirements amongst multiple key stakeholders

1.3 Scope of Services

  1. Map AS-IS and design TO-BE business processes.
  2. Facilitate process design workshops and walkthroughs with stakeholders.
  3. Conduct root cause analysis, time-and-motion studies, and performance diagnostics.
  4. Define and document process KPIs, metrics, and governance controls.
  5. Contribute to the automation readiness of selected processes by capturing detailed rules and exception paths.
  6. Identify process inefficiencies and improvement opportunities using Lean and Six Sigma techniques.
  7. Conduct and document process walkthroughs and QA reviews with stakeholders before final sign-off.
  8. Document processes using organisation-approved SOPs, templates, and standards.
  9. Support the central repository of approved process artefacts with version control.
  10. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., FICA, POPIA, AML).
  11. Adhere to ISO:9001 or equivalent process quality standards in documenting AS-IS and TO-BE processes.
  12. Track process performance post-implementation and support benefits realisation reviews.
  13. Produce weekly reports highlighting risks, issues, and deliverable status.
  14. Support change management by developing process handover packs and training materials.
