A Vacancy exists for an
Intelligence Officer
in the
Critical Infrastructure Division
based in the following regions:

  • Eastern Cape
  • KwaZulu Natal

The suitable candidate's main responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Conduct thorough investigations into criminal activities and related incidents.
  2. Manage and develop relationships with informants, while overseeing intelligence collection and analysis in the region.
  3. Ensure strict adherence to legal and procedural requirements during court processes.
  4. Perform detailed inspections of case dockets in accordance with the brought forward system.
  5. Organize and file administrative documents, ensuring proper maintenance of official registers.
  6. Monitor and analyse emerging crime trends to provide proactive recommendations for improving investigative strategies and security measures.
  7. Assist in the preparation of case files and reports for submission to legal counsel and authorities, ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate.
  8. Provide expert testimony in court proceedings, as necessary, to support the prosecution of cases.
  9. Collaborate with law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders to ensure timely sharing of critical information and intelligence.
  10. Coordinate the execution of search warrants and arrests in collaboration with law enforcement to ensure proper legal procedure and safety.
  11. Prepare and maintain detailed investigation logs and reports for ongoing cases, ensuring all actions and decisions are thoroughly documented.

Preferred qualifications/attributes/skills:

  1. PSIRA Certification Grade B or higher
  2. Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
  3. Driver's license
  4. Sound security knowledge
  5. A working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  6. SAPS experience will be an advantage
  7. Knowledge of investigation techniques
  8. Must have excellent presentation, verbal communication and report writing skills
  9. Knowledge Criminal Procedures Act
  10. Ability to operate with confidence under pressure and during emergencies.
  11. Good communication skills in English and one other South African language.
