Key Responsibilities

1. Pre-Production

Budgeting

  • Develop and manage production budgets with the Creative Director.

  • Coordinate closely with the Creative Director to align schedules with the creative vision.
  • Crew & Vendor Management
  • Oversee recruitment and contracting of crew members (e.g., filmmakers, photographers, media personnel).
  • Negotiate with vendors and suppliers for equipment, locations, and other production needs.
  • Locations, Permits & Visas
  • Secure, approve, and—where necessary—scout shooting locations.
  • Obtain film permits and visas for crew operating across multiple African countries.

• Work with local fixers and officials to secure permissions and maintain strong country relationships.
Insurance & Safety

  • Arrange production insurance for liabilities, cast, crew, and equipment.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols and compliance with local regulations.
  • Equipment & Gear Management
  • Oversee movements of all film equipment into and out of the field.
  • Sign equipment in and out and track gear across productions.
  • Work with the gear manager to check, clean, and maintain cameras and lenses.
  • Oversee equipment servicing, repairs, and vendor interactions.
  • Maintain and update gear logs, serial numbers, and inventories.
  • Hard Drive Management
  • Label, track, and monitor all hard drives used in the field.
  • Manage workflow from cinematographers to editors to backups.
  • Maintain up-to-date logs and ensure drives are recycled and ready for future deployments.
  • 2. Responsibilities During Production
  • Daily Operations
  • Manage day-to-day operations of productions across the continent, including internal post-production deadlines and deliverables.
  • Ensure schedules are adhered to and address delays or disruptions.
    Budget Monitoring
  • Track daily production spend and manage petty cash from field crews.
  • Oversee purchase orders, fund approvals, and payroll monitoring (with Creative Director approval).
  • Communication & Liaison
  • Act as the primary communication link between producers, directors, and crew.
  • Coordinate with department heads to resolve logistical challenges.
  • Problem-Solving
  • Address issues such as gear malfunctions, location conflicts, and personnel problems.
  • Implement contingency solutions as unexpected challenges arise.
  • Supervision
  • Oversee transport logistics for cast, crew, and equipment, working closely with the TWP logistics team and Operations Managers.
  • Manage post-production timelines and schedule adherence.

3. Post-Production Responsibilities

Wrap-Up Logistics

  • Supervise the return of rented equipment and closure of vendor accounts.
  • Ensure all paperwork is completed (release forms, logs, expense reports, invoices, etc.).
  • Final Budget Reconciliation
  • Prepare financial reports summarising all production expenditures.
  • Ensure timely payments for crew, contractors, and vendors.
  • Archiving & Delivery
  • Oversee delivery of final materials (call sheets, scripts, log sheets, expense reports, etc.).
  • Manage hard drive recycling once backups and logs are confirmed.
  • Key Skills Required
  • Exceptional organisational skills
with the ability to manage complex, multi-country logistics.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of film production workflows
