Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site position located in Cape Town. The Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying and cultivating new business opportunities, building strong client relationships, and increasing revenue growth. Key tasks include market analysis, developing tailored logistics solutions, collaboration with operations teams to ensure service delivery, and preparing proposals and presentations for potential customers. The role will also involve maintaining a deep understanding of industry trends to anticipate and meet client needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, source, and develop new sales leads across multiple industries.
- Conduct market research and analysis to uncover opportunities and industry trends.
- Prepare and manage customer quotations, including sourcing rates from carriers, agents, and partners.
- Create tailored logistics solutions and service offerings based on client requirements.
- Collaborate with Operations and Finance teams to ensure seamless service delivery and client satisfaction.
- Manage the full sales cycle from initial contact to closing, including follow-ups and pipeline management.
- Maintain a deep understanding of freight forwarding processes, Incoterms, customs requirements, and multimodal transport.
- Represent Manora at client meetings, trade events, and networking opportunities.
- Travel to other provinces as required for client visits, sales meetings, and business development activities.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Business Development, Sales, and Client Relationship Management.
- Experience in Market Analysis, Strategic Planning, and Problem-Solving.
- Understanding of Freight Forwarding, Logistics, and Supply Chain Management.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in CRM tools, Microsoft Office, Outlook, and ShipShape (advantageous).
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Experience preparing freight quotations (air, sea, and road freight) and working with rate sheets, partner agents, and shipping lines.
- Solid understanding of Freight Forwarding, Logistics, Customs, and Supply Chain processes.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
