Malander is seeking an experienced Annual Financial Statements (AFS) Manager to join our dynamic team. This individual will be responsible for managing the full process of annual financial statement preparation, ensuring compliance with all relevant accounting standards, and leading a high-performing team to deliver exceptional client service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation and finalisation of annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS and other applicable reporting standards
  • Review and ensure the accuracy, completeness, and compliance of financial statements before client delivery or audit sign-off
  • Manage and lead a team of accountants and reviewers involved in AFS compilation and reporting
  • Plan and allocate team resources to meet tight deadlines across multiple clients
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients regarding financial reporting and audit support
  • Implement, maintain, and improve internal controls related to financial reporting processes
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members on accounting and reporting issues
  • Ensure efficient workflow and adherence to internal processes across the AFS life cycle
  • Liaise with auditors to facilitate smooth and timely audit processes
  • Keep abreast of changes in accounting standards and regulatory requirements
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to optimise quality and efficiency
  • Identify and mitigate risks within the financial reporting process
  • Apply best practices in outsourced service delivery, where applicable
  • Monitor team KPIs and contribute to performance and client satisfaction reporting

Requirements and Qualifications

  • CA(SA) designation (registered Chartered Accountant – South Africa)
  • Completed SAICA articles
  • Extensive experience in preparing and reviewing AFS under IFRS
  • Proven experience managing finance or reporting teams
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and attention to detail
  • Excellent client-facing communication skills
  • High proficiency in relevant accounting software and Microsoft Excel
  • Experience working in a corporate finance environment
  • Previous experience in an outsourcing managerial role will be advantageous
  • Ability to lead with a hands-on approach while meeting strategic goals
  • Strong project and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple clients and deliverables concurrently
