The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Associate Director to join a dynamic real estate accounting team. This is a key leadership position where you'll provide strategic direction, oversee complex accounting matters, and contribute to the continued growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise and support accounting teams on technical matters under IFRS and other GAAP standards.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of complex financial statements and manage relationships with auditors.
  • Provide expert guidance on the accounting and tax implications of corporate activities.
  • Ensure all accounting practices meet professional, ethical, and regulatory standards.
  • Support senior leadership and board committees on strategic initiatives and projects.
  • Stay up to date with changes in accounting standards, tax legislation, and industry trends.
  • Collaborate with tax advisers to ensure timely and accurate compliance.
  • Handle VAT/CIS compliance matters and assist with responses to regulatory queries.
  • Identify training needs and support the continuous development of the accounting team.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years' experience in accounting, ideally within the real estate sector.
  • Recognised professional qualification (CA(SA), Professional Accountant (SA), CIMA/CGMA or ACCA).
  • Strong technical expertise in IFRS, FRS 102, FRS 102 1A, and other recognised standards.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence at senior levels.
  • Experience with Yardi software is a plus.
  • A proactive leader who values collaboration, continuous learning, and process improvement.

SALARY IS MARKET RELATED AND COMMENSURATE BASED ON EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Job Type: Permanent

Pay: From R90 000,00 per month

  • corporate tax advisory: 2 years (Preferred)
  • board-level reporting or advisory: 2 years (Preferred)
  • VAT and CIS compliance support: 2 years (Preferred)
  • Yardi: 3 years (Required)

License/Certification:

  • SAICA, SAIPA, CIMA/CGMA, ACCA or equivalent qualification (Required)
