We are seeking an experienced Coded Welder with a strong background in marine vessel structural repairs to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing high-quality welding work on steel structures and components onboard sea-going vessels, ensuring all work complies with class, company, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out structural welding and fabrication on vessels and marine equipment according to approved drawings and specifications.
  • Perform welding on plate thicknesses ranging from 3mm to 20mm, using EN :2004 S355 JR+AR steel materials as well as stainless steel.
  • Follow and adhere strictly to company Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and quality control procedures.
  • Conduct repairs and renewals of hull plating, bulkheads, frames, stiffeners, foundations, and other critical vessel structures.
  • Ensure all work meets the requirements of vessel classification societies (e.g., SAMSA, INSB, Lloyd's Register, DNV, ABS, BV, etc.).
  • Prepare surfaces, fit and align steel plates, and carry out tack welding prior to final welds.
  • Carry out visual inspections of welds and cooperate with class surveyors during verification.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area and comply with safety standards at all times.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Recognised Welder Coding/Certification (e.g., ISO 9606-1, ASME IX, or AWS D1.1 approved).
  • Proven experience in marine structural welding and ship repair environments (minimum 3–5 years preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to weld S355 JR+AR steel (EN :2004) in varying thicknesses (3–20mm).
  • Familiarity with welding positions (e.g., 1G–6G) and procedures for carbon and stainless steel structures.
  • Working knowledge of marine classification regulations and inspection practices (SAMSA / INSB / DNV / Lloyd's / ABS / BV).
  • Ability to interpret fabrication drawings and welding symbols.
  • Experience with MIG, TIG, and SMAW (stick) processes.
  • Strong commitment to safety and quality assurance.

Preferred Attributes

  • Valid medical fitness certificate for marine work.
  • Experience with hull, deck, and superstructure repairs.
  • Ability to work in dockyard conditions.
  • Team-oriented, disciplined, and capable of working under pressure.
