3C Metal, Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa Job Title Welding Engineer (IWE) Contract Type Permanent Responsibilities Participate in project evaluation and quotes (technical support during tendering process, review of welding and inspection specifications, codes and standards). In charge of welding development: PQR’s, Welding Book, WPQ’s, NDT, testing and analysis (mechanical, corrosion, CTOD, ECA…). Management of PQR and welder qualification registers. Evaluate new developments in welding field for possible application to current welding problems or production processes. Participate in kick‑off meetings with Client / Project Engineer / Workshop Manager / Supervisors at project commencement and as required during the project phase. Overall follow‑up of on‑going projects in terms of welding quality and productivity: workshop and site. Support production and operation for welding concerns: identify root causes, assess and deploy improvement solutions. Contact and liaise with clients and stakeholders to clarify technical aspects of projects; coordinate with the QA/QC department for project preparation (Welding Book, WPS, selection of qualified welders) and NDT requirements during the project. Direct and coordinate technical personnel in performing inspections to ensure workers’ compliance with established welding procedures, restrictions and standards; test welds for conformance with international code requirements; or test welding personnel for certification. Travel to the different 3C Metal subsidiaries and clients’ sites when required by projects POC for group‑level 3 NDT management, group NDT procedures ISO 3834‑2 RWC. Evaluate and audit systems in place for improvements – lead client and third‑party audits for ISO 3834‑2. Group‑level technical support. Qualifications BEng degree in Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering; must have a Masters or Honours degree specialising in Welding Engineering; IIW IWE diploma preferred. Minimum of 2 years relevant working experience. ISO 9001: 201. ISO 45001. Competencies Technical expertise. Attention to detail. Quality orientation. Planning and organising.
