JOBDESCRIPTION · Perform cost -effective mechanicalmaintenance and repairs on all plant and ancillary equipment in the department.· Cost -effective installation of newplant and machinery.· Recording of all work performed on plantand ancillary equipment on a time sheet and worksheet.· Maintaining an up -to -date knowledge ofall mechanical plant and ancillary equipment on site.· Maintain a high level of housekeepingand total compliance with safety standards within his work area.· Performing of overtime work andstandby duties as and when required.· Assisting with on -the -job training ofapprentices and semi -skilled artisans working in the engineering division.· Requisitioning of spares and materials.· Assist in the formulation andimplementation of a planned maintenance program.· Be able to record faults, add toplanned work list and plan execution of work. RequirementsMINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS · Matric / NTC 3.· Completed trade test as Fitter (andTurner, would be advantageous) with Red Seal Experience in the servicing andinstallation of:o    Hydraulic and pneumatic equipment;o    Conveyors;o    Gear boxes; ando    Belt and chain drives.· Experienced in Sawmill relatedequipment, would be advantageous:o    Frame saws, bandsaws and associatedequipment;o    Drum chippers;o    Debarkers;o    Planerso    Finger jointer machineo    Destackero    Boilerso    Kilns· Proven experience as a welder.· A minimum of 5 years' experience in a manufacturingenvironment.  Sawmilling experience wouldbe an advantage.· Experience in machine setup.· Medically fit with sober habits.· Code EB license with own transport.· Willing to work irregular hours andperform standby duties.· Regularly working overtime, especiallyon weekends.· Must be able to communicate in English(speak, read & write). Abilityto communicate in Xhosa will be an added advantage.
