About the Role

LexVero is looking for a commercial lawyer to support one of our corporate clients with the review, negotiation, and drafting of a wide range of commercial contracts. This role is ideal for a commercially minded lawyer who enjoys working closely with various stakeholders, navigating complex agreements, and helping clients achieve practical, risk-balanced outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, draft and negotiate commercial contracts in line with company playbooks, templates, and legal standards.
  • Identify key risks, suggest commercially sound solutions, and escalate matters for internal or client review where necessary.
  • Negotiate terms directly with suppliers and vendors, ensuring favourable and compliant outcomes for the client.
  • Maintain, update and optimise playbooks, templates, and clause libraries to reflect evolving business and legal positions.
  • Participate in client meetings and calls to understand project objectives and ensure contractual alignment with business goals.
  • Produce high-quality drafting that reflects strong attention to detail and commercial awareness.
  • Collaborate with client stakeholders, suppliers, and internal LexVero teams to support efficient contract turnaround times.
  • Using business case scenarios and legal expertise to identify opportunities for improved processes to optimise service delivery.
  • Knowledge and experience in utilising legal technology (including contract lifecycle management tools) in workflows which provides speed to solutions while eliminating risk.
  • Contributing and presenting to the team new and creative ideas to optimise workflows, technology and business operations
  • Peer reviewing of team member work, mentoring junior team members and contributing to quality control

Experience and Qualifications

  • LLB degree (BCom degree is advantageous but not essential)
  • Admitted attorney with a minimum of 4 years post-admission experience in commercial drafting and negotiation.
  • Proven experience drafting and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements (e.g. supply, services, procurement, or vendor contracts).
  • Strong understanding of corporate and business law principles.
  • Experience within mining, engineering, or energy sectors will be advantageous but not essential.
  • Comfortable working directly with senior stakeholders via video calls and in meetings to negotiate and finalise terms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a client-focused mindset.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously.
