Technical Administrator – Engineering & Process Safety

Location: Durban / Hybrid

Type: Full-Time | Permanent

MHI Risk Engineers, a leading process safety and risk engineering consultancy, is seeking a Technical Administrator to support our growing operations, technical, and commercial teams.

This role combines project administration, document control, office coordination, and marketing support within a professional engineering environment. You'll play a key role in ensuring that our deliverables, proposals, and client communications meet the highest standards of quality and compliance under ISO/IEC 17020.

Key Responsibilities


• Provide administrative and technical support to engineers on process safety, HAZOP, and risk assessment projects.


• Maintain project registers, deliverable trackers, and QA documentation.


• Format and compile technical reports, proposals, and tender submissions.


• Manage version control, templates, and document approvals in SharePoint.


• Coordinate internal audits, training sessions, and accreditation documentation.


• Support marketing and sales activities — including proposal preparation, client communication, and maintaining CRM databases.


• Manage office operations, stationery, and supplier coordination.


• Arrange travel logistics for consultants (flights, accommodation, and car hire).


• Assist finance with purchase orders, timesheets, and billing coordination.


• Prepare monthly dashboards and assist with management reporting.

Minimum Requirements


• National Diploma or Degree in Engineering (Chemical / Mechanical / Industrial / Process) or in Business / Technical Administration.


• 3–5 years' experience in an engineering, consulting, or process safety environment.


• Proficient in Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, Planner).


• Excellent organisational and communication skills with strong attention to detail.


• Experience in document control, proposal coordination, and client liaison.


• Knowledge of ISO 9001 or ISO 17020 systems advantageous.


• Professional, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
