A leading organization is actively seeking a highly capable Systems Administrator to join their technical operations in Durban. This key position involves the maintenance and optimisation of our core IT infrastructure, requiring a proactive approach to managing networks, servers, and security. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, configuring, and monitoring systems , implementing preventative measures , and ensuring system back-ups are consistently successful. If you possess a strong technical background, hands-on experience in areas like network administration (TCP/IP, Firewalls, VLAN's) and server technologies (Windows/Linux, Active Directory) , and a dedication to operational excellence, we encourage you to apply and contribute to our dynamic environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer, monitor, and maintain all company network infrastructure (LAN, WAN, VPN, firewalls).
  • Install, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers (Windows, Linux, etc.), ensuring optimal performance and availability.
  • Monitor systems for performance, reliability, and security, responding to alerts and resolving issues proactively.
  • Implement and manage preventative measures, including setting up monitoring software and ensuring all system back-ups are successful.
  • Secure server environments by creating documented policies and overseeing the patch management policy.
  • Provide staff with technical support and assist with troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Manage and maintain the telephony infrastructure and handle budget control for software licensing.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies to recommend improvements and ensure compliance.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in system administration or infrastructure support.
  • Expertise in network administration (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLAN's, Firewalls) and experience with VPN technologies (OpenVPN, IPsec, WireGuard).
  • Strong knowledge of Server Technologies (Windows server, Linux/Unix, Active Directory), including virtualisation platforms such as VMware and Hyper-V.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure and knowledge of Scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, Python) for automation and configuration.
  • Experience with Router configuration and setups (MikroTik, Routing).
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Previous experience in ERP systems.
