Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for fibre network design and optimisation?

A leading organisation is seeking a Senior Fibre Planner to join their dynamic team and play a pivotal role in shaping high-performance fibre infrastructure across South Africa.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Fibre Network Planning & Design
  • Develop high-level and detailed fibre network designs (FTTH, FTTB, FTTx) using GIS and CAD tools.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, route planning, and cost estimation for new deployments.
  • Prepare low-level design (LLD) drawings, splice plans, and bill of quantities (BoQs).
  • Review, update, and approve as-built documentation.
  • Collaborate with project managers, civil teams, and contractors to ensure plans are executable.
  • Support procurement with accurate BoQs and materials planning.
  • Provide technical input to tender documents and vendor evaluations.
  • Ensure designs meet our Clients technical standards, local regulations, and health & safety requirements.
  • Perform quality checks on third-party and junior planner designs.
  • Conduct site surveys and validate route feasibility.

OUR REQUIRED EXPERTISE

  • Diploma or Degree in Telecommunications, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience in fibre planning, design, or network engineering
  • Strong understanding of GIS tools, fibre technologies, and planning software
  • 5+ years' experience in fibre planning and design (FTTH/FTTB/FTTx).
  • Proven track record in large-scale fibre rollouts.
  • Strong knowledge of fibre optic technologies, network architecture, and splicing principles.
  • Experience with GIS (QGIS/ArcGIS) and CAD software.
  • Familiar with wayleave processes, municipal regulations, and compliance.
