Tasting Room Manager – De Wet Cellar

Location: Worcester, Western Cape

De Wet Cellar, the oldest cellar in the Worcester region, is renowned for its award-winning wines and warm country hospitality. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional customer experiences and sharing our passion for wine with visitors from near and far.

We are seeking a dynamic, hands-on Tasting Room Manager to lead our tasting room team and ensure every visitor enjoys an unforgettable experience that reflects the quality and character of De Wet Cellar.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all daily operations of the tasting room, ensuring a professional and welcoming environment.
  • Deliver engaging and informative wine tastings and tours to visitors.
  • Drive wine sales and meet monthly sales targets.
  • Supervise, train, and motivate tasting room staff to maintain excellent service standards.
  • Manage inventory, stock control, and point-of-sale systems.
  • Plan and coordinate tasting events, promotions, and private bookings.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with visitors, wine club members, and tour operators.
  • Handle administrative tasks including cash-ups, reporting, and stock ordering.
  • Collaborate with marketing and production teams to promote brand awareness and product launches.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in hospitality, retail, or a wine-related environment (management experience preferred).
  • Strong wine knowledge or a willingness to develop in-depth product expertise.
  • Excellent communication and people skills with a customer-first attitude.
  • Ability to lead a small team effectively and handle busy periods with professionalism.
  • Organised, proactive, and sales-driven.
  • Proficient in POS and basic administrative systems.
  • Weekend and public holiday availability required.
