POSITION: SAGE X3 Technical Expert

LOCATION: Midrand

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled SAGE X3 Technical Expert to lead the development,

customization, integration, and support of our Sage X3 ERP system. The ideal candidate

will have deep technical knowledge of Sage X3 architecture, development tools, and best

practices. You will work closely with functional consultants, business analysts, and stakeholders

to deliver scalable and robust ERP solutions that support business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, customize, and maintain Sage X3 modules using 4GL, X3 development tools, and SQL.
  • Create and modify reports using Crystal Reports or other reporting tools integrated with Sage X3.
  • Manage data migrations, imports/exports, and system interfaces (e.g., APIs, web services).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, performance bottlenecks, and bugs.
  • Collaborate with functional teams to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Lead or support version upgrades, patches, and system enhancements.
  • Maintain technical documentation and system architecture diagrams.
  • Ensure adherence to change management and development lifecycle standards.
  • Provide technical training and knowledge transfer to internal teams.
  • Stay up to date with new Sage X3 features, modules, and development practices.
Required Skills and Experience:
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience as a Sage X3 Technical Consultant/Developer.
  • Strong knowledge of Sage X3 architecture, including development using 4GL, SAFE X3, and script programming.
  • Proficient in SQL Server or Oracle databases, including writing queries, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with APIs, web services, and integrations with third-party systems.
  • Proficiency in Crystal Reports, Sage X3 Report Designer, or equivalent.
  • Experience with Sage X3 version upgrades and patch management.
  • Understanding of business processes in finance, distribution, manufacturing, or supply chain (based on industry).
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.).
Desirable Skills:
  • Sage X3 certification (technical or functional).
  • Experience with cloud-based deployments or hosting of Sage X3.
  • Knowledge of other ERP systems or legacy migrations.
  • Experience with EDI integrations or automated workflows.
