Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Litigation & Family Law Associate, located in Umhlanga, Durban. The Litigation & Family Law Associate will be responsible for managing litigation cases, handling family law matters, and providing support to the Family Law and Litigation teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and attend to Magistrate's Court hearings and related matters.
  • Draft and prepare pleadings, legal correspondence, and opinions for review.
  • Attend client consultations, prepare memos and agendas, and conduct thorough legal research.
  • Handle Family Law matters, including divorces, maintenance, domestic violence, and custody proceedings.
  • Assist the team in managing a diverse portfolio of cases
  • Appear in court and liaise effectively with counsel, clients, and relevant stakeholders.
  • Prepare documentation for review prior to finalization in support of your team.
  • Work independently, managing your own diary and files with professionalism, accountability, and attention to detail.
  • Collaborate closely with your team leader and colleagues to achieve collective success.

Requirements

  • LLB Degree and Admission as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
  • A professional, proactive, and solutions-driven mindset.
  • Strong drafting, research, and client management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • A client-centric approach with a high level of professionalism.
  • Motivated and disciplined, with the ability to report to seniors and operate effectively within a team structure.
