A specialist recruitment consultancy is recruiting on behalf of a reputable client for an experienced Learning and Development Manager. This permanent role, based in Sandton, offers the opportunity to drive strategic learning initiatives, lead a team of skilled specialists, and influence leadership and core skills development across multiple business areas.

Key Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing a comprehensive leadership and core skills learning strategy
  • Overseeing the design, development and delivery of multi-format learning solutions, including classroom, virtual and digital
  • Leading, coaching and developing a team of Learning and Development Specialists
  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders and business leaders to identify learning needs and ensure value delivery
  • Establishing and applying metrics to measure the impact of learning initiatives, aligned with recognised evaluation methodologies
  • Championing innovation in learning design, including the use of microlearning, blended learning, gamification and emerging technologies
  • Leveraging AI and digital tools to enhance learning creation, delivery and operational efficiency
  • Ensuring governance, quality assurance and alignment with internal frameworks and compliance requirements
  • Managing budgets and resources to ensure optimal utilisation and maximum impact
Requirements

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • 8–10 years' experience in Learning and Development, including 3–5 years in a management role
  • A proven track record in designing and delivering leadership and core skills programmes within large, complex organisations
  • Demonstrated experience leading high-performing L&D teams with strong coaching and capability-building skills
  • Expertise across digital, virtual and in-person learning methodologies, including instructional design and facilitation
  • Experience using evaluation frameworks such as the 6Ds or Kirkpatrick Model
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and consulting capability, including influencing senior leaders
  • End-to-end project management experience, including budgeting and reporting
  • Proficiency with modern learning technologies, LMS platforms and virtual training tools
  • Experience integrating AI and digital innovation into learning design and delivery
  • A formal qualification in Human Resources, Learning and Development, Organisational Psychology, Education or a related field
  • Ongoing professional development in leadership, learning design or training facilitation (postgraduate qualifications and certification in the 6Ds or similar frameworks are advantageous)
