Our client, a leader in the mining and explosives industry, is seeking an experienced
Internal Marketing & Communications Specialist
to join their Marketing & Communications team.
Purpose of the Role:
Lead the design, development, support, and execution of internal communication strategies, marketing campaigns, and brand initiatives to engage employees, align stakeholders, and drive organisational objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement the unit operations plan by understanding key activities and performance measures, communicating with stakeholders, and monitoring daily execution.
- Report on performance by tracking progress against targets, identifying concerns, and submitting clear, timely reports quarterly and as needed.
- Comply with company policies by staying up to date, participating in training, and resolving policy-related queries.
- Follow established processes correctly and address issues or concerns as they arise.
- Support the internal communication strategy by engaging stakeholders, ensuring consistent messaging, fostering employee engagement, aligning with organisational goals and industry trends, and reviewing the strategy periodically.
- Execute internal communications by collaborating with leadership, global partners, and third-party service providers, including developing internal newsletters, intranet content, and employee announcements.
- Draft and release clear, timely internal communication messages that ensure clarity, alignment, and impact.
- Arrange internal and business events, exhibitions, sponsorship activities, and conferences by coordinating with stakeholders, managing planning and logistics, and aligning with strategic priorities.
- Arrange logistics for leadership briefings, employee functions, and engagement programmes.
- Ensure consistent implementation of the corporate identity by assisting with brand guidelines, overseeing branded collateral production, and supporting departments in maintaining brand consistency.
- Support sales teams by developing and distributing marketing materials, brochures, and other promotional literature.
- Oversee sponsorships for product divisions by identifying event objectives, allocating budgets, negotiating sponsorships, ensuring effective activation, and evaluating results against performance metrics.
- Utilise digital marketing tools, analytics platforms, and AI-driven solutions to enhance campaign targeting, personalisation, and employee engagement.
- Explore and implement innovative technologies to improve marketing efficiency and the overall employee experience.
- Track and report on engagement analytics to evaluate effectiveness and optimise communication strategies.
- Assist in defining departmental budgets, implement and manage expenditure, approve spending in line with financial policies, and conduct monthly reviews.
- Monitor actual expenditure by analysing financial reports, identifying anomalies or areas of concern, and executing timely corrective actions.
- Monitor and maintain SHE performance and compliance, ensuring timely completion of monitoring activities and correcting deviations.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders through regular communication, feedback exchange, and collaboration support.
- Manage service provider performance by tracking service level agreements, monitoring delivery against standards, identifying issues, and applying corrective actions as necessary.
- Actively contribute to the team by participating in events, providing support where needed, and being an engaged, dependable team member.
Requirements:
- Matric / Grade 12; BCom / BA in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or similar.
- Postgraduate diploma in Business Management or similar (advantageous).
- 5+ years' experience in marketing and communication.
- Experience with SAP, MS Office, basic graphic design, and analytical tools.
- Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, social media management tools).
- Experience with AI-driven marketing, digital, and automation platforms (advantageous).
- Knowledge of the mining or industrial sector (advantageous).
- Proven track record in B2B marketing and stakeholder communications (advantageous).
- Driver's license.
