ABOUT THIS ROLE
We're looking for a creative and digitally savvy Influencer Marketing & Social Media Assistant to join our dynamic marketing team. This role is key in driving ghd's brand presence through influencer partnerships, engaging social media content, and strong community connections. Reporting directly to the Head of Digital and Marketing, you'll support the execution of influencer marketing strategies, manage social media platforms, and assist in PR and event initiatives—all while ensuring ghd maintains its premium positioning in the beauty industry.
With a 'digital-first' mindset, you'll help us grow brand awareness, engagement, and loyalty among consumers and professionals in South Africa, aligned with global brand strategies.
REQUIREMENTS
ROLE & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
INFLUENCER MARKETING & RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT:
- Identify, recruit, and manage influencer partnerships to amplify brand reach.
- Coordinate influencer campaigns, from briefing to execution and performance tracking with KPIs.
- Foster strong relationships with existing influencers and scout emerging talent aligned with ghd's brand values.
- Monitor influencer content for brand alignment and engagement impact.
SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGEMENT:
- Develop and execute content calendars across platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, etc.).
- Create, curate, and post engaging, high-quality content that reflects ghd's brand identity.
- Day-to-day community management—responding to comments, messages, and engaging with followers.
- Analyse social media metrics, KPIs and prepare reports with insights and recommendations to improve performance.
PR & MEDIA SUPPORT:
- Assist in implementing PR strategies to secure media coverage in key beauty, fashion, and lifestyle outlets.
- Build and maintain relationships with media contacts and assist with press releases and media kit distribution.
- Support in organizing media events, influencer gatherings, and brand activations.
EVENT PLANNING ASSISTANCE:
- Support the planning and execution of events, including product launches, influencer events, and trade shows.
- Coordinate logistics, supplier briefings, and on-site event support.
MARKETING SUPPORT:
- Assist with general marketing activities, including POS creation and distribution.
- Collaborate with the sales team on in-salon marketing requests.
- Conduct competitor analysis to identify trends and opportunities in the professional hair and beauty space.
KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- 1–2 years of experience in social media, influencer marketing, PR, or a related role.
- A relevant marketing qualification (diploma or degree preferred).
- Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, and analytics tools.
- Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.
- Creative mindset with basic content creation skills (e.g., photography, video editing, Canva, Photoshop).
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
- Event coordination experience is a plus.
- Passion for the beauty industry and an eye for aesthetic detail.
- Basic budget management and ROI tracking knowledge.
