Key Responsibilities:

- Manage and lead the engineering department, including assigning tasks and providing guidance and support to team members

- Oversee the maintenance, repair, and operation of all machinery and equipment onboard the cruise ship

- Ensure all machinery and equipment are in compliance with safety regulations and industry standards

- Monitor and maintain inventory of spare parts and supplies

- Develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures

- Conduct regular inspections and tests to identify and address any potential issues

- Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth operation of the vessel

- Train and mentor junior engineers and crew members

- Keep accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities

- Manage budget and expenses related to the engineering department

- Stay updated on industry developments and advancements in technology to improve efficiency and safety on board the vessel

Qualifications and Skills:

- Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering or related field

- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Chief Engineer on a commercial vessel

- Valid Chief Engineer license and all required certifications

- Strong leadership and communication skills

- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities

- Knowledge of safety regulations and industry standards

- Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment

- Strong organizational and time-management skills

- Proficient in using computer systems and software related to engineering operations
