Fleet & Operations Controller
JOB SUMMARY

The daily management of the operations of the company, ensuring that all vehicles are utilised optimally and that the customer base is broadened as the company grows. Provide excellent customer service to all clients.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Effectiveness

·       Manage planning, scheduling, and execution of daily client orders.

·       Ensure vehicles are loaded daily, meeting turnover and CPK targets.

·       Utilise subcontractors and grow the broking book.

·       Implement strategies to improve operational efficiency and equip drivers.

·       Oversee fuel and equipment purchasing and reconciliation.

·       Enforce loading, on-route, and offloading procedures to ensure timely, undamaged deliveries.

Troubleshooting

·       Address order non-conformances, communicate with clients, analyse root causes, and improve systems.

·       Improve diesel consumption.

·       Assess and mitigate operational risks.

·       Manage vehicle on-route risks and implement reduction strategies.

Customer Relations

·       Strengthen operations–client relationships to ensure consistent service.

·       Reduce delays at loading and offloading points.

·       Manage client communication to optimise satisfaction and internal flow.

·       Secure new clients to support business growth and operational efficiency.

Compliance

·       Confirm all subcontractor requirements are met before engagement.

·       Maintain fleet standards; ensure scheduled services and COFs.

·       Ensure driver adherence to loading procedures to prevent damage.

·       Meet all SLA requirements.

People Management

·       Oversee recruitment, induction, and training of drivers; ensure daily management processes are in place.

·       Foster high-performance culture through effective management and coaching.

·       Maintain discipline to ensure a fair work environment.

General

·       Manage internal processes to ensure efficient paper flow and accurate, timely reporting.

·       Develop and manage computer systems to improve data accuracy and operational efficiency.
