Our client is looking for a quality-focused Junior QC Lab Assistant to support laboratory operations by performing accurate chemical, microbiological, and stress testing, as well as assisting with equipment calibration.

The ideal candidate will follow QMS and SANAS 17025:2017 standards, maintain meticulous records, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives with attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs chemical, microbiological, and in-process production analyses accurately and on time.
  • Prepares standard solutions and verifies quality through standardisation checks.
  • Maintains and calibrates laboratory equipment, ensuring compliance with SANS 17025 and GLP standards.
  • Troubleshoots discrepancies, analyses data for quality risks, and completes accurate quality records.
  • Supports problem-solving, corrective actions, and continuous process improvement.
  • Participates in QMS procedures, audits, and SANAS compliance activities.
  • Manages stock of chemicals, media, and consumables, ensuring availability for testing.
  • Maintains lab hygiene, safety compliance, and high housekeeping standards.
Requirements
  • Higher Diploma or B.Sc. in Microbiology, Food Technology, Biotechnology, or related field.
  • At least two years' experience in a similar laboratory environment.
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; strong record-keeping and report-writing skills.
  • Own transport and flexible to work varied hours.
