Radford Dale has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Junior Accountant to join our team. The position will be based at our office on the slopes of the Helderberg, outside Stellenbosch.

Reporting to the CFO, the successful candidate will be a detail-oriented, deadline-focussed number-cruncher with excellent administrative skills, strong interpersonal skills, the ability to multi-task and work well under pressure. The position requires an individual with a genuine commitment to excellence who will ensure accuracy, efficiency and compliance in all accounting and financial matters.

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledger, journals, and reconciliations.
  • Manage accounts payable (local and foreign), ensuring timely payments.
  • Manage accounts receivable (local and foreign), ensure transactions are within credit limits and maintain regular communication with customers to ensure timely collections.
  • Process and reconcile bank accounts in multiple currencies and liaise with banks for foreign currency payments and receipts.
  • Monthly revaluation of all foreign currency balances.
  • Maintain stock management system on Pastel, including processing of GRN's and utilising Bills of Materials to manufacture stock items.
  • Maintain fixed asset register and process depreciation journal entries.
  • Maintain detailed 6-month cash flow forecasts.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and variance analysis.
  • Assist with preparation for audits and liaise with external auditors.
  • Assist with annual budgeting process.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Co-ordinate non-financial certification requirements (eg WIETA, Organic).
  • Support management with regular reports and ad-hoc projects / financial analysis.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Relevant Degree or Diploma
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience
  • Sage Pastel Partner experience is essential
  • Fluent in English with a working knowledge of Afrikaans
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer literate with an excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel in particular)
  • Valid driver's licence and own transport would be advantageous.
