Plant Buyer

**Job purpose**

Procurement professional ensuring delivery of all Procurement targets; site specific procurement and local implementation of Group-led and SBU-led spend categories (including capital and operational expenditure) and manages supplier performance. Undertakes activities to ensure the efficient and effective strategic procurement of defined portfolio, which may include responsibility for a category where this is specific to the site.

Enables SBU Procurement Plant Manager be effective in role and enables SBU Procurement Director to effectively partner with the Sector executive committee in all day-to-day procurement activities that impact the SBU P&L.

Ensures Plant activities are in accordance with Procurement Excellence strategy, goals and Group Procurement Policy/Standards. Enables Group Chief Procurement Officer to effectively deliver Procurement **Excellence strategy and goals at Plant**

**Principal accountabilities**

Act in accordance with Company values and bring to life the One Procurement Community (OPC) to enable

**Procurement Excellence strategy.**

Work in accordance with the Group Procurement Operating Model, Group Policies and Standards, the Plant procurement activities from category strategy development to contract, implementation and supplier management. May include supporting other Plants and/or SBU as directed by SBU Procurement Lead.

Enable effective business partnership for Plant for the development and improvement of defined categories in line with business requirements, optimising security of supply, commercial agility, drives responsibly

sourced sustainable value, which contributes to business profitability and cash flow.

Works to identify, develop and implement improved supply-side initiatives to deliver sustainable value, appropriate quality and service, and a secure, safe, cost effective and ethical supply base.

Conducts research on potential suppliers and vendors, promotions and other industry trends as a source of accurate and up-to-date information to compliment Group insights for procurement activities.

Negotiates and develops formal supply agreements for defined Plant categories of spend. Ensures compliance.

Provides monthly/quarterly price updates. Discusses strategies, priorities and issues with business

management, and advises budget holders and experts in choosing suppliers and products.

Manages supplier relationships and builds a comprehensive understanding of extended supply chains (ideally back to source and applicable waste streams), and general industry market intelligence.

Is focused on delivering best practice results and a competitive advantage to the Company.

Contributing to the development of the Group-led category strategy or SBU-led and Plant categories.

Contributing to and/or managing sourcing cycle for defined portfolio. Employs best-in-class Procurement approaches. Supporting and implementing all procurement strategic projects held globally.

Executing the outcome of category strategies and sourcing action plans to effective implementation. Support the team to successfully deliver the plan and realise intended value at Plant.

Provide information and impact assessments to Group Procurement to set Group-led procurement strategies and plans and excellently execute them for the Plant.

Support attainment of Plant stakeholder commitment and deliver cost/risk/innovation/value-based projects for the SBU and related Plants, developing excellent collaboration with Group Procurement.

Identifies, evaluates and capitalises on opportunities to reduce procurement costs by improving the businesses procurement patterns and supply channels.

Supports implementation and compliance to policies, procedures and controls to ensure effective procurement activities and vendor execution.

Supports business improvement initiatives across programmes of work to ensure that the strategic goals of the business and Procurement are met.

Contributes to the performance and output of the team to drive change and develop, implement, optimise and/or continuously improve work processes, techniques and systems and deliver supply side saving projects in accordance with Group targets.

Supports relevant internal and external (e.g. ISO) compliance and registration audits.

Supports Plant Procurement Manager to ensure full compliance with applicable JM/SBU legislative, regulatory, audit, EHS and Group Procurement ethical standards, policies, procedures and processes. Including Supplier Due Diligence and Supplier Code of Conduct.

Ensures collection and analysis of key cost drivers, market dynamics, short
- and longer-term security of supply and issues, areas for innovation and alternative suppliers.

Secures critical EHS, regulatory, REACH and other fiscal data on suppliers and ensure data captured in relevant databases.

Analyses all suppliers recommended price changes. Escalates issues to Group Procurement for G
