Position Summary:
Major Responsibility:

- Oversee SRPP operations, program implementation, budget management, staffing/project plans associated with community player programming and development and community outreach and engagement initiatives
- Collaborate closely with BAL staff to set common goals and strategic direction for community and social outreach/player programs initiatives
- Manage relationships, and ongoing communication and provide implementation support to NBA Africa teams around their player programs, youth basket NBA and community outreach efforts
- Help NBA Africa teams establish community and player development partnerships in their markets
- Work collaboratively with BAL to leverage existing NBA grassroots programs such as Jr. NBA, NBA Cares, BWB, and NBA Africa Academy to enhance key NBA AFRICA initiatives
- Research, track and share key developments, trends, and best practices in the social responsibility and player development areas with NBA Africa teams to ensure NBA Africa is offering best-in-class services and programs to the players and the communities it serves
- Cultivate and strengthen relationships with various partners including co-partner FIBA Africa, BAL, NBA federations, multilateral agencies, and corporations to ensure the continued success and support for new initiatives and programs
- Design and execute an innovative player development program that addresses the personal and professional development of NBA AFRICA players
- Establish and implement a communication process to proactively address and respond to team/player questions and issues.
- Create a process for internal reports and communications on the development and execution of SRPP programs while maintaining records and recommendations that help boost operational efficiency and enhance the experience of participating NBA AFRICA countries
- Liaise with SRPP staff at the NY office on the development and integration of social responsibility, player development or youth basket NBA Africa programs

Required Skills/Knowledge:

- Deep knowledge of the basketball landscape in Africa, and prior experience playing professionally on the continent, preferred
- Ability to exercise good judgement in situations that are time-sensitive and public-facing
- Strong communication skills in delivering performance management messaging, liaising with cross-functional teams and with players, coaches and team managers
- Highly organized with the ability to establish priorities and meet strict deadlines
- Proven ability to work independently and efficiently while travelling
- Exceptional attention to detail skills, especially related to business writing
- Ability to interact well within, and across, multiple levels of the organization
- Strong public speaking and presentation experience
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in the areas of Player Development and/or Corporate Social Responsibility (Africa-related non-profit or government organization experience a plus).
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize effectively, exercise flexibility as needed and communicate changes/updates to key stakeholders in a timely manner
- Knowledgeable and experienced in events and/or program implementation
- Ability to think creatively and communicate clearly, professionally, and persuasively (both verbally and in written form)

Experience Needed
- Minimum of 6 years experience in the CSR space, NGO, non-profit also a plus
- Prior experience in developing, implementing, and improving programs from either a youth basketball, social responsibility, or player development perspective for either a sports team or league
- Extensive experience in partnership management (including financial and project management) in a cross-cultural environment
- Previous experience with high-level projects and/or programs while exceeding expectations

Educational Background Required:

- Bachelor’s Degree, preferred
