Requirements
- A BSc/BEng/BTech degree in Civil Engineering
- Registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa
- Up to eight (8) years’ experience
- Extensive water management and related construction experience

at a senior level
- Knowledge of the operation of water treatment works, large

diameter pipelines and bulk reservoirs is essential
- Able to assume control of water supply emergencies or disaster

situations
- A valid Code B driver’s licence.

Key Performance Areas
- Ensure effective management of protected mountain catchment

areas, aquifer recharge zones and commercial timber plantations
- Ensure effective treatment of raw water from various sources

(including surface water, ground water, sea water and treated

wastewater) to drinking water standards
- Ensure integrated operation and management of the bulk water

storage and conveyance system comprising dams, reservoirs,

pump stations and large diameter pipelines
- Develop and implement comprehensive asset management plans

for all infrastructure under management
- Responsible for staff management (700 employees), financial

management, contract management, relationship and

communication management
- Ensure achievement of safety, health, risk, environmental and

quality (SHREQ)objectives for the branch.
