**Role Purpose**
The **Head: Insights and Data Monet**isation leads the insights and data monetisation value stream for ShopriteX, driving the creation and delivery of digital, analytical and product development aimed at optimising the retail core while monetising data and insights services and products to external business clients. The role forms an integral part of the ShopriteX leadership team and spans across the Group, inspiring insights and data monetisation strategic and commercial activities. This includes formulating its vision and growth path, setting out an investment roadmap leveraging its core advantage around Shoprite's data ecosystem to unlock incremental value in the core retail business, develop new revenue streams through insights monetisation, develop innovative new data products., building a world-class digital team, and establishing the brand as a pioneering and differentiated digital platform.
The **Head: Insights and Data **Monetisation** is a visionary individual with a keen instinct for asking the right strategic questions to direct the right insights at the right time. The role requires a strong commercial, strategic and data-driven background along with a deep understanding of the art of bringing people, behaviour and science together to develop innovative, customer-centric digital solutions while delivering profitable data monetisation strategies.
**Role Description**
- Build and lead the insights and data monetisation value stream, strategically, commercially and operationally, with full accountability for its commercial success and delivery of expected KPI benefits.
- Translate strategy to build out products according to a digital roadmap, working with Heads of Tribes, Chapter Leads and technology teams to ensure roadmaps are resourced across enabling chapters, cross-functional dependencies are identified and blockers and impediments are removed to maintain pace and flow of value.
- Develop lean business cases and establish the investment strategy. Manage all related budget and funding requirements.
- Identify, validate, prioritise and document the business use cases, including use case financial drivers, governance, and implementation risks.
- Accountable for all elements of digital product development, from conceptualisation to deployment to post-deployment (incl. product architecture).
- Lead the optimisation of merchandise and commercial activities, supporting the national category management, buying, marketing and operations teams including pricing, promotion and assortment optimisation to unlock incremental value.
- Develop the data ecosystem internally and in partnership with external stakeholders, driving data partnerships that unlock strategic value for Shoprite and its customers.
- Drive and direct commercial and service delivery solutions to existing and new FMCG suppliers, advocating the transformative potential of customer-led insights.
- Expand the client portfolio through new business and strategic partnerships including new solutions aimed at new clients or current clients with untapped, diversifying needs.
- Proactively drive discussions with stakeholders across the Group to craft the right questions, understand the implications of data insights, develop the strategic direction of product development, ensure alignment with business strategy, and develop new ideas and propositions.
- Drive a data-driven approach to decision-making, both in the day-to-day management and in making strategic trade-offs as required.
- Play an active role in the ShopriteX Leadership Forum, contributing as a Head of Tribe towards 'building the vision and advancement of ShopriteX as a preferred digital platform.
- Present and pitch concepts and ideas at the board level and to executive steering committees and external stakeholders.
- Lead a progressive insights team of squad leads and supplier engagement experts, including sourcing and harnessing the best talent, to build a world-class digital retail team.
- Champion and promote best practices in digital product development and enrichment, continually benchmarking against industry standards and advancing agile ways of working.
**Qualifications and experience**
- Degree in Business, Information Systems, Economics, Statistics or related field - (essential)
- Postgraduate business qualification (e.g., MBA) - (desired).
