**_ Position Purpose:_**
- Develop, implement and manage a system and processes that are aligned to business requirements for the effective
management of employee performance at all levels across Transnet, and review and assess its relevance and effectiveness
- on an ongoing basis
- Enable the current and future forecasting and planning of the workforce across Transnet to ensure that the required skills
and capabilities are in place for supporting business performance by embedding appropriate strategic workforce planning
- (SWP) methodology, system(s) and processes
- Ensure that performance management and SWP are aligned to business needs and requirements and able to support
achievement of business performance at all levels of the organisation
**_ Position outputs:_**
Performance management
- Source/develop, implement and manage a system and processes for the effective management of employee performance at
all levels across Transnet, and review and assess its relevance and effectiveness on an ongoing basis
- Ensure that the performance management system is aligned with business requirements and is able to support business
performance achievement at all levels of the organisation
- Build a high performance culture and ensure alignment to organizational values
- Formulate and implement Performance Management policy, process and methodology for both Bargaining Unit and
management levels
- Manage and facilitate the process and ensure compliance with the policy
- Research, develop and implement fit-for-purpose methodologies and practices that meet organisational needs and that will
support the achievement of Transnet business targets and objectives
- Devise and implement best-in-class monitoring and reporting systems
- Keep abreast of local and international performance management theory, methodologies and trends
- Ensure effective integration of Performance Management with other processes in the SAP HCM or relevant system
Strategic Workforce Planning (SWP)
- Source and implement an appropriate SWP system and methodology suitable for Transnet and its diverse businesses and
operational environments
- Establish and embed the strategic workforce planning system and methodology across the organisation that inform
productivity analysis
- Develop, implement and manage strategic workforce planning (SWP) and demand forecasting processes in collaboration
with relevant key stakeholders across the business
- Translate workforce plans into skills requirements in order to meet current and future business demands and objectives
- Provide accurate information pertaining to the current and future skills and competencies required and demand drivers to
ensure continued business performance and the sustainability of all the operating divisions
- Support the end-to-end cycle of workforce planning from collection during annual planning to tracking and governance
throughout the year
- Establish an agile forecasting process and methodology able to inform the business accurately and d
- Provide data analytics and interpret results to support management decision making relating to headcount, strategy,
organization workforce design, workforce competency modelling, internal movement, etc.
- Governance
- Develop, implement and monitor policies, standard operating procedures and guidelines to ensure good and proper
governance
- Manage engagements in performance management and strategic workforce planning forums to ensure alignment across all
Operating Divisions
- Monitor and ensure effective risk management
- Oversee internal audit processes for the department
Stakeholder relations management
- Establish and maintain sound relationships with all key internal and external stakeholders through consistent engagement
and communication
- People management
- Coach, mentor and develop employees as required
Financial management
- Manage expenditure in line with business priorities and budgetary requirements, and report deviations
